We are a Group Practice consisting of doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, management and support staff.
There are seven GP Partners all of whom are experienced general practitioners but who also have specialist knowledge and interests in particular fields of medicine.
We have three Practice Nurses supported by a Healthcare Assistant who offer a range of different services.
We are also an accredited Training Practice involved in the teaching of GP Registrars who work with us on a temporary basis for periods of three, six and twelve months. GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who are specialising in general practice. We value their input and fresh ideas and we learn a lot from them.
Being a Training Practice also helps us monitor and continually improve our patient care. A GP Registrar may be sitting in with the GP when you visit and you will be advised of this. If you would rather they were not present, please mention this at reception. No-one will mind and this will not affect your treatment in any way.
There are also a number of attached staff who provide additional services from our surgery. These include midwives, health visitors, mental health counselors and physio-therapists.
Net Average Earnings
NHS England requires the net average earnings of doctors engaged in general practice to be made public. This information is given below, however it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings could be misleading as it does not take account of the number of hours doctors spend working in the practice. The figure should not be used to form any judgment about GP earnings or to make any comparison with figures from any other practice.
The average pay for GPs working at Towcester Medical Centre in the last financial year, before tax and national insurance was £64,410. This is for 2 full time GPs, 5 part time GPs. No locum GPs have worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
