Support with Disabilities

Discover support and resources on this page to help you navigate life with a disability.

Towcester Medical Centre aims to support your disability by…

  • Providing equal access to all services, for example encouraging physical accessibility and accessible formats of communication
  • Providing referrals to appropriate services, for example to mental health support, physiotherapists and specialists for diagnosis
  • Adding you to the learning disability register to help you receive better health support
  • Providing information and support for applications to other forms of help, for example applying for NHS Continuing Healthcare for individuals with serious health need
  • Providing physical and mental health support
  • Each year, patients will be invited to an annual review with a HCA and a GP. We encourage patients to attend these appointments, so we can be kept up-to-date with your health needs

Quiet Room (COMING SOON)

In 2023, we met with patients at Towcester Medical Centre who live with disabilities to learn more about their experiences and how we can offer better support. From these conversations, we are creating a Quiet Room — a calm space designed especially for patients who may find busy waiting areas overwhelming, such as those with autism or learning disabilities.

The Quiet Room will include fidget toys, relaxing posters, and noise-cancelling headphones to help make visits more comfortable. Clear black-and-yellow signage will guide patients to the room.

This space is open for all patients to use. We’re grateful to those who shared their insights and helped us develop a room that supports everyone’s needs.
