Support for Menopause

Menopause is a natural life stage, but the journey through perimenopause and beyond can bring a wide range of physical and emotional changes. You don’t have to go through it alone. This page provides with information and resources to help you understand your symptoms, explore treatment options, and connect with others who understand.

What is the Menopause?

  • Menopause is the natural end of a woman’s reproductive years
  • This is marked by permanent stopping of menstrual periods due to a decline in hormones from the ovaries
  • This typically occurs between the ages 45 – 55, although this can happen earlier due to factors such premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), surgery or cancer treatment.
  • Perimenopause is the time leading up to the menopause
  • During perimenopause you will start to experience irregular periods, as well as a range of symptoms including hot flushes, sleep disturbance and mood swings.
  • A woman is considered to have reached menopause after 12 consecutive months without a period
